Here are some links if you are looking for extra practice for your students. Our next unit after Geometry will be Measurement. We will then do Personal Financial Literacy after that. Only 2 more units and then we will be reviewing! Where has this year gone?

Many times I find that students pick up math skills easily, but struggle when it comes to applying those skills to problem solving. Word problems can be really tricky and hard to analyze in order to find the correct answer. One thing that will help students with problem solving is extra practice. If you are looking for extra problem solving practice, this could be helpful. Not only are problems available, but answer keys as well.
Are you looking for extra practice opportunities in math for your student? Well, today I shared DreamBox and Happy Numbers with the classes. Your child should be bringing home user names and passwords for both today. The easiest way for students to access these programs is via the student portal.
What I like most about these programs is that once students have completed a few lessons, it will move on to other lessons, or reteach skills that students need to work on. If you have any questions or concerns about these new resources, please feel free to contact me!
Hello wonderful families! I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed yesterday's beautiful weather!! This week we will begin our Data Unit. Students will learn different ways to represent data. Here is what I have planned:
MONDAY: Review 9 weeks test from Friday and go over answers.
TUESDAY: Students will learn about Frequency tables and how they are used to represent data.
WEDNESDAY: Students will gather data and represent it in a Frequency Table.
THURSDAY: Students will learn about dot plots.
FRIDAY: Students will gather data and represent it in a Dot Plot.
I think that is it! Hope you have a great week!
Happy New Year wonderful families! I hope you all had a fantastic break and were able to spend some quality time with your students. This week we will ease back into things with review of fractions and a couple of new skills. Here is what I have planned:
MONDAY: New Year's Matholutions (goals for the new year in Math). Students will also review fractions with a color by number activity.
TUESDAY: Today we will review changing an improper fraction into a mixed number and vice versa.
WEDNESDAY: Today students will add and subtract fractions with common denominators.
THURSDAY: Students will work on adding and subtracting mixed numbers.
FRIDAY: We will be taking a 2nd 9-weeks assessment. This assessment will help me in planning and prepping lessons and small groups.
I think that is it! Email me if you have any questions or concerns. Happy 2019!
This week we have been working with fractions! Because of Courage to Stand that takes place and other events coming up, we will most likely not have our normal Centers Schedule until the new year. Here is what we will be working on next week.
MONDAY: Students will be learning how to create equivalent fractions by finding the lowest common multiple and multiplying the numerators and denominators.
TUESDAY: Continue to work with equivalent fractions.
WEDNESDAY: Students will be learning how to simplify fractions by dividing the numerator and denominators.
THURSDAY: Continue to work with simplifying fractions.
FRIDAY: WRITING BENCHMARK!!! If time allows for us to switch, students will complete a quick fractions assessment. Students will be assessed on Fractions on a number line, identifying fractions, unit fractions, and decomposing fractions. If we have extra time we will play Around the World! If we aren't able to switch, we will do the quick assessment on Monday.
That is it for now! Have a wonderful weekend!
Good morning wonderful families! I wanted to send you guys a quick email and let you know that your students will NOT be bringing home math homework for the weeks leading up to the break. I want to give your students the opportunity to focus instead on science fair projects, reading homework, and spending time doing fun things as a family! We will be sending home another extra credit opportunity for students to practice over the break and I will also still post extra practice on my webpage. I realize this is a crazy busy month and hopefully this will help alleviate some stress 😊!! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Hello wonderful families! I hope you all had a great Halloween! It has been a crazy busy October and I'm thankful November is now here and things can hopefully calm down a little! This week I gave students the week to get caught up on all of their work and get everything turned in. If your student wasn't able to complete their work that was due today, they will be bringing it home to complete. I've extended our Division Unit a little bit in order to insure that students are really understanding the skills and steps. Next week we won't have centers because of our Symphony Field trip. We will do other hands-on activities instead. Here is what I have planned...
MONDAY: Interpreting Remainders - Students determine if they need to round, drop, or share the remainder depending on what the problem is asking us. Students will receive their homework for the week TODAY and it is due on FRIDAY.
TUESDAY: Students will continue to Interpret Remainders.
WEDNESDAY: Today students will review division skills.
THURSDAY: Continue to Review Division
FRIDAY: FIELD TRIP!!!
More Interpreting Remainders
I think that is it! Keep those pledges coming for the Fun Run! I'm so excited to watch the kids participate next week! Have a fantastic weekend!
Hello wonderful families! I hope you all had a fantastic week! Thank you SO much to everyone who purchased a book from the book fair for the class! We will be enjoying them during our Morning Meetings each day. Next week we won't have our normal centers because of Halloween and other activities. Here is what I have planned.
MONDAY: Students will continue to learn the steps for Standard Division and practice the steps.
TUESDAY: Students will be taking a GATE Assessment and the focus during our class will be STEM.
THURSDAY: We will continue working with Standard Division and we will begin to analyze what to do with remainders.
FRIDAY: We will work with Remainders and take a quick check over Division.
I think that is it! Be sure to check your child's back pack for report cards! Please sign the envelope and return it on Monday! Have a great weekend!
