Next week our addition and subtraction focus will move from whole numbers to decimals. Here is what I have planned... (Extra Practice opportunities will be linked next to our focus for the day.
MONDAY: Students will learn how to add decimals. The most important thing when adding decimals is for students to line up the decimals first and then add a zero when the decimals don't have the same number of place values. (Extra Practice for Adding Tenths and Extra Practice for Adding 100ths)
TUESDAY: Today students will learn an adding decimals game!
WEDNESDAY: Today students will learn how to subtract decimals. Again, I will reinforce the importance of students lining up the decimals and adding a zero when necessary in order subtract correctly. (Extra Practice Subtracting Tenths and Extra Practice Subtracting Hundredths)
THURSDAY: Students will complete mixed practice of Adding and Subtracting Decimals. We will read "What's For Lunch", students will choose items off of a lunch menu and have to add and subtract decimals in a "real world" way. They will also be given a BUDGET!
FRIDAY: Students will be assessed over Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers with and without regrouping.
That is it for now! Have a terrific weekend!
Blessings, Mrs. Burke
